WWF Thailand Officially Launches the Environmental Education Tour

08 June 2023

On June 5th 2023 or World Environment Day WWF Thailand officially announced the Environmental Education Tour at Amari Watergate Hotel in Bangkok.

In attendance at the event was the Minister for Natural Resources and Environment, who gave a speech, as well as representatives from the Royal Thai Navy and the German Embassy. Natalie Phaholyothin - Chief Executive Officer of WWF Thailand also filmed an address for the event.

The Environmental Education Tour is an initiative be an initiative co funded between WWF Thailand, Onyx Hospitality Group, and PA Concrete CO., LTD and will be run by the Environmental and Social Foundation (ESF). It will be a nationwide tour that will travel to schools in 9 provinces across the country over a period of 10 months with the aim to spread the message of environmental conservation and to educate the younger generation on
  1. Endangered species
  2. Climate change
  3. Responsible consumption and production
  4. Keeping oceans clean
The tour will begin in Samui in early June 2023 and will conclude in Bangkok in February 2024.
Along with educational activities, there will be conservation activities/campaigns held with the locals at each of the locations.  This is vital as ESF has identified local participation as key to protecting the environment.

The tour will be organised through the Environmental Education Unit Bus, which will be equipped with VR headsets and educational exhibitions on the 4 topics above.

However, the tour seeks to do more than just educate. Our goal is to inspire these young individuals, fuel their passion, and equip them with the knowledge and skills to become change agents advocating sustainable lifestyles. The ripple effect of this transformation has the potential to reach far and wide, positively impacting communities, influencing policy, and ultimately shaping the future of sustainability in Thailand.

Announced on the same day is a documentary series developed by the Youth Wildlife Guardians, a group of children aged 8-17 on environmental topics they are passionate about. These documentaries will he shown through the VR devices on the Environmental Education Tour. The Youth Wildlife Guardians will also act as spokespeople for the tour.
